Summary: Beginning in July 2000, the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in collaboration with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), expanded the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) to collect data on all types and causes of injuries treated in a representative sample of United States hospitals with emergency departments (ED).
